First Step Abroad – Student and Travel Placement Team
Susanne was born and raised in Germany, but made Cape Town her home in 2008 after completing her Master’s degree at the University of Cape Town. Her passion for South Africa was already cemented in 2001 when she volunteered at an orphanage for HIV-infected children in Cape Town. This, combined with her studies in Social Anthropology in Germany and at the University of Cape Town, provided her with the opportunity to deepen the intense interest in South Africa and its people.
During and after her studies she worked in the tourism field and later as an internship and volunteer placement manager at a German agency. In 2010 she co-founded First Step Abroad - Student and Travel Placements.
Her continuing passion and enthusiasm for the country and its people, as well as the natural and cultural diversity, she likes to share with our applicants. Susanne will gladly provide advice on our volunteer projects and internship opportunities and help with the planning and organisation of your stay abroad.
